This is the blog of the writer and artist Andy Field. More information about me and my work can be found over here.
Hi, I was at the show this Sat 8th March for Put your sweet hand in mine and was sat 2 seats to your left (my wife was between us).
Your work was fantastic. Wonderfully written (reminded me of poetry or the concise writing of Hemmingway).
The acting was some of the best ive seen and the whole production was brave, innovative and a privilege to experience.
There were times where there was such an intensity, it was like being on acid. The stories that were told were great on their on and then the metaphor within them emerged and it was like a realisation.
I remember a poem called Lovesong by Ted Hughes, which felt to me like it looked at love in a more intense and real way than traditional love poems and to me, your work did a similar thing and did it so well.
It dawned on me near the end that you guys would just leave without a word and that was powerful. It left me feeling that I had been carried through such intense emotions and then abandoned, without the chance even of closure (perhaps this e-mail is that). It was like realising that a relationship that I thought was genuine, was actually just a one night stand.
I also think that a testament to the intensity that you guys produced, was the reaction of the young lasses who were laughing. I think that they didn’t know how to handle the emotion of it.
Well done and thank you, it was a great experience. I hope I get the chance to experience more of your work in the future
